Tamaryokucha is a typical rolled-leaf green tea originating from the island of Kyushu, also commonly known as Guricha, due to the shape of the leaf. It can be produced either following the traditional wok drying method (common for most Chinese teas), or with the more frequent steam drying method typical of Japanese teas. In both cases, the leaf is subsequently rolled up to obtain the typical appearance that distinguishes it. It differs from Sencha both in appearance (curled leaves) and in taste: it is complex, with fresh notes that can refer to lime and a persistence and roundness that gives almond hints.
